Impact of installing an AQT90 FLEX in the Biogroup-LCD lab on ED patient treatment
ED physicians at the Lambert Clinic sought the availability of troponin and D-dimer assays
The need for an immunoassay analyser
In 2013, the Lambert Clinic’s trusted medical analysis laboratory BioParisOuest relocated to Levallois (Biogroup-LCD), resulting in the Clinic’s lab becoming a peripheral site. The ED Reception Service (SAU) continued to send its lab orders to the technical platform but after opening its Emergency Department (ED) in 2019, streamlining SAU activities became a priority.
After discussing the potential benefits of reducing the result wait time with the team, the Biogroup-LCD laboratory at the Lambert Clinic installed an AQT90 FLEX immunoassay analyser in collaboration with the ED.
Ease of use is crucial — since there are only four of us using the AQT90 FLEX at the peripheral laboratory.

The choice of parameters was made in collaboration with ED physicians.
Benefits of the AQT90 FLEX analyser on patient care in the ED
Installing the AQT90 FLEX analyser also changed practices and contributed to reducing teams' stress, as explained by Dr. Ohana: “In the ED, we need things quickly! We cannot afford to wait for a courier because a heart attack does not wait.”
Lastly, the establishment of a clinical lab contract between the laboratory and the ED department facilitated the strengthening of relations between these two services.
On average, we were able to save 1.5 hours on the Time-To-Result (TTR) [4] with the use of AQT90 FLEX which could lead to a great improvement in the length of stay for patients in the ED of the Lambert Clinic.
